Application Information
Interested students are encouraged to apply to CREATE–AAP concurrently with their application to the participating academic units and Graduate Studies. They do not have to wait to be accepted into their prospective home department to submit their CREATE–AAP applications. However, they will only be admitted into the program if they are accepted into a graduate program in one of the participating units.
We accept applications from Canadian and international students who are in the first year of their degree programs. For information about fellowship amounts, see the funding page.
Please note that the application deadline for 2012 has already passed. Applications will again be accepted in early 2013.
Eligibility
Only students who meet the eligibility requirements will have their applications to CREATE–AAP considered:
- student must be entering their 1st year of their graduate program
- student must be accepted by one of the CREATE–AAP affiliated units
- students must be supervised by a CREATE–AAP mentor; prior to submitting an application, prospective students should contact their proposed supervisor and confirm that they are willing act as a project supervisor
Application Process
The CREATE–AAP application package consists of the following documents:
- Online Application Form: Complete and submit the online application form
- Submit Ancillary Material: In addition to the online application, students must submit additional documents. All ancillary materials should be sent by email to createaap@chem.ubc.ca or by fax to +1 (604) 822-2847. These documents are:
- Curriculum Vitae — Detailing research experience, educational background and relevant skills applicable to graduate studies and proposed research field
- Reference Letters — One copy of each of the three reference letters submitted to their admitting UBC department. Copies sent directly from the applicant's department will be accepted. Students are responsible for ensuring that reference letters are received by the CREATE–AAP Program Office before the application deadline. Students are responsible for ensuring transcripts are received by the CREATE–AAP Program Office before the application deadline.
- Transcripts — One copy of all post-secondary transcripts. Copies of official transcripts sent directly from the admitting UBC department will be accepted. Students are responsible for ensuring transcripts are received by the CREATE–AAP Program Office before the application deadline
All application materials must reach CREATE–AAP by the posted deadline.
Admissions Decisions and Letters of Offer
Admissions decisions are made by the Admissions Committee shortly after the application deadline. Offer letters will be sent to successful applicants and their supervisors. The letters will outline expectations associated with CREATE–AAP funding.
